Road to Gold Juneau AK

Please read the following information from the local skating director:

There are 3 coaches and each coach teaches numerous classes over the 2 days so there are 40 classes to choose from!  You are bound to find too many classes to enjoy (or need!).  Because classes are taught at the same time, the maximum classes you can take is 14 over the 2 days (in addition to Private lessons-see below). I do not expect everyone to take 14 classes but why not take as many as you think you can benefit from-it’s not every day we have such amazing coaches in town! Coaches teach both on- and off-ice classes and class sizes are limited to 10 skaters.

To register: Go to juneauskatingclub.org, click on registration, and create an account if you don’t have one.  Look for the Season, “2022 Road to Gold” and/or the Category “Clinics and Camps”

Private lessons with the guest coaches are encouraged and available on the following 5 ice times:

1.Friday during regular club ice, 4pm-5pm. Preference will go to those registered on this ice for session1.

There are 4 Club Ice times (register for these under the Road to Gold Season)

2.Saturday at 8:00-9:00am

3.Saturday at 8:45-9:45am

4.Sunday at 7:00-8:00am

5.Sunday at 7:45-8:45am

All Figure Skaters are encouraged to register for at least one Club Ice during the camp to get warmed up ahead of the camp. Private lessons will be 30 minutes. You will need to pay the coaches directly (The Road to Gold Director Amy and I will assist with this).  Rates per lesson are Jeremy-$65, Gracie-$55, Geoff-$50. If you want a lesson with one of our Olympic guest coaches, email juneausk8@hotmail.com. Indicate which coach you want a lesson with, and during which time-you can request multiple lessons.  First come, First served.  We will attempt to be as flexible as possible and try to allow each skater the opportunity for at least one lesson.

And----For lessons with your own coach on Club Ice, contact your coach!

Other events during the weekend include:

Friday 7:00pm-Meet and Greet the Road to Gold Coaches-this event is open only to those Figure Skaters registered and will be held at 211 Cordova St., Douglas, at Congregation Sukkat Shalom. This is a not to be missed special time to meet the coaches!

Saturday 2:50-3:30pm-Road to Gold Basic Skills “Party”- skaters will get a chance to learn from all guest coaches. There will also be a photo opportunity and play time.  Tell all your Basic Skills friends!

Saturday 6:00-7:00pm-Gracie Gold Speaking Engagement.  Gracie has a special story to share, her skating story, mental health challenges and her come back to skating.  Sponsored by the Glacier Valley Rotary Club, all local high school students are welcome to listen and ask questions of this amazing Olympic skater.
